The day started with breakfast as usual. One clear plan for the day was visit the War Remnants Museum. There are some airplanes, helicopters and tanks in the courtyard. The museum itself contains three floors. On each of the floor there are pictures and stories about the war. Even if Vietnam war was familiar from the history classes in past, It was awful to see all that has been done, and what kind of consequences there still are today. There were no happy faces on visitors faces, quite opposite, the tears were not far away. After this visit I admire and respect even more the positive attitude and service mind of Vietnamese people.
Saigon Skydeck was one of the places in our visiting list. It was good to have some time to absorbe what we saw in war museum, so we chose walking. Saigon Skydeck is in Bitexco Financial Tower. It’s only 262 meters high (observation deck on a bit lower level), but one could get good overview of the city. There is also bar/restaurant couple of levels higher, so we went there and enjoyed refreshing smoothies there.
The Zoo in the city is always a tempting place to visit. In HCMC there is one, so next we headed there. The area is quite large, and one can either walk there or enter the zoo train. We chose walking. Quite soon in the beginning of the tour we noticed, that the place is not in that good condition as we are used to. The areas, where animals are kept were dirty, people were throwing food for animals, and the smell, it could have been better. Just thinking, if it was right thing to do, meaming the visit, but at the same time wishing, that our entrance fee would be good for the animals.
Many places seen during the day. When walking back to the hotel, we went to eat to one small local chain restaurant called Mon Hue. Pho soup and Spring rolls were good and made us satisfied and happy.
The time in Vietnam is running out, so we spent rest of the evening by booking hotels and filling in visa applications for our next destination, which you will find out within few days.
