Yesterday afternoon we arrived to our second destination, Beijing. One could immediately both see and feel the difference compared to Xi’an. While Xi’an was tidy and friendly, Beijing is quite dirty, worn out and more distant.
Our reservation in Happy Dragon Hotel did not meet the expectations. One bedroom house with own terrace and mountain view was actually moderate room with roof view, no mountains anywhere. (Price reduction is discussed with Booking.com).
First day had to be started with mandatory visits to Tiananmen square and Forbidden city. Metro is working with the same logic, than in Xi’an, so it was easy to find our way there. Before getting in, one needed to pass few security checks and passport controls. But even if it sounds pretty complex, everyting is working very nice and smoothly. We found even automatic tour guide in Finnish (spoken by a Chinese lady), so we rented one for both of us.
After three hours walking and more than 13 000 steps, it was time to return to hotel. Later in the evening tasty dinner nearby, some water shopping and writing this post. Eagerly waiting for tomorrows trip.
